RUSH

Postby mr kite on Fri Oct 12, 2007 8:42 pm

There were many great rock bands in the 70s , and the there were Led Zeppelin , without doubt the best rock band to grace this planet , but one late night , a school night that is, i was allowed to watch the Old Grey Whistle Test , and the show Bob Harris said there was a canadian rock band called RUSH touring the u.k. and they showed a clip , and i was blown away on stage three musicains two dressed in kimonos with both of them with twin neck guitars and long hair , then there was a drummer with a drum kit , that looked like he`d been in a shop and bought everything he could hit and two bass drums to boot .
The next morning at school my friend who loved drums also had seen them and we both decided we had to go and see this band , and on that cold febuary night at the Manchester apollo 1978 i went to my first concert , and that was it , this is what its all about , saved up and bought the album they were touring with A Farewell To Kings , as much as Zepp were a blues influenced band, RUSH were singing to me about space ships going through black holes Cygnus x1 , Xanadu about a man who finds a portion that gives him inmortality , this band where on the same wavelength as me , RUSH became my band , and 29 years on i will be seeing them again , yes they are that good .

Your right on all fronts there Fendertele 8)
Alex Lifeson [ guitar] is a very underrated , most people talk about N. Peart because he`s such a brilliant drummer , they released a mini album 4 years ago FEEDBACK where they do cover versions of there favorite songs that they where influenced by when they stared out and Lifsons guitaring is amazing , when i heard this album i knew RUSH where back 8)
Tonights the night for me ,as i`m going to see them at Manchester Arena , im so excited , i am , i really am . :D
Heres a video that you may like its South Park doing RUSH .

Aw, they dedicated Caress of Steel to Rod Serling, writer of the Twilight Zone.

What I like about Rush is that they get inspired by things. I mean, Something For Nothing - getting inspired by seeing a graffitti on the wall saying Freedom is not Free - classic! And Twilight Zone, writing a song inspired be a series. And the entire 2112 story... brilliant! 8)
And Tears is just pure Geddy Lee and I love the man!
