So i've restarted my vinyl record collection again, notably The Beatles. I'm not 100% sure why but I prefer vinyl albums to CD. Maybe it's because vinyl records generally last longer, one scratch on a CD and it's ruined. Vinyl scratches are easier to fix, and I also believe the early mono LP's sound distinctly better than on CD. For instance Nowhere Man on Rubber Soul sounds to me like a better mix than on CD. It also adds to the authenticity in the way it was originally meant to be heard.
I already had the "Words & Music" double LP, which has all the original Decca sessions. Glad I kept hold of it.
Records I've just bought:
With The Beatles (mono)
Rubber Soul (mono 2nd pressing)
The White Album (stereo)
Rarities (Stereo - Parlophone)
1962-1966
1967-1970
Live At The Star Club, Hamburg, Germany, 1962
Rock n Roll Music (double vinyl issue)
and...
Abbey Road - (original UK 1st pressing - RARE)
CAT No:.PCS 7088
RARE: Excellent Condition. The Label omits the "Her Majesty" credit and the sleeve has the misaligned Apple logo.
I looked it up online, and in near mint condition it's worth about £137. Well, this is in excellent condtion and I picked mine up for £25. Bargain
The only downside now is that it's becoming a very expensive hobby. Although I picked up all the great condition double vinyls for under £10 each. Far cheaper than a new CD.
