How Did You Discover The Beatles

Postby fendertele on Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:52 am

me and my mate used to used to like other bands i was a huge blur fan and he was a huge oasis lol we used to argue all the time about who was best and on one of our many skives from school we started to skive off in comet as it had loads of things to do and one day on the music cd post there was loads of random albums and the beatles red and blue so wed just stand and listen to that every time we were dogging school we never argued again over blur and oasis as we found another band we both loved.

when the family came to NZ the mom decided that HT and Octie need to have some real music experience. So she tells a friend "get me the Beatles" next time he gives us Help! and AHDN. We didnt listen much to them. Then we saw a documentary on the Four and began to really be into them.

I was about 12 years old when I first discovered them. I was in sixth grade at Ridge Brook Elementary School and my music teacher had showed us the Beatles movie Yellow Submarine. I forgot who the Beatles were then for about a year, and then one day I was in my mom's car and I heard Yellow Submarine again when I was 13. I asked her who was singing that song and she said the Beatles. That was when I started to get books and their music to learn more about them. I had a been a Beatles fan for nearly 12 years now. :)

A friend of mine told me that he had liked the Beatles. He wasn't crazy about them like I am today  but he liked them and at this time I was searching around different types of music and was starting to get into the older stuff. So I checked them out and I was like "They are ok" So I went out and bought "1" and listened to it. I still wasn't as crazy as I am now. But I liked it and it motivated me to download more stuff. And I guess around the 3rd time I listened to "1" and got "Please Please Me" it really hit me  and I was just IN LOVE. I got AHDN (the movie) and fell in love with Paul :D After that....I got their whole discography, I stalk the stores around here to wait for their shirts to come out on the shelves, I bought posters, bracelets...I am a beatlemaniac  ...So now, I can't go a day without listening to them. I love them so much, they are by huge gigantic leaps, my most favorite band!!!! So glad I met that friend and got into the Beatles!!!

I discovered them through the cartoons back in the 70's... I just became curious about that band that some of my older cousins listened a lot. The rest is history... they became my all time fave band. :)
